KOCH Solutions gets OCP bucketwheel bridge reclaimer contract

KOCH Solutions has announced that it has been awarded a new project in Morocco. For phosphate mining major OCP at the Ben Guerir Mine, it will deliver a Double Bucket-Wheel Bridge Reclaimer (BWBR) with a capacity of 3,600 t/h of phosphate and a rail gauge of 52 m.

This BWBR will be almost identical to two existing machines already operating successfully in Ben Guerir – alongside another unit from 1978, still running reliably today. These were supplied by thyssenkrupp and FLSmidth. In 2023 KOCH Solutions acquired a mix of intellectual property, order backlog, employees and facilities from FLSmidth’s NCA segment. This included intellectual property: port/terminal equipment, stockyard systems, pipe conveyors and various continuous surface mining equipment from both legacy FLSmidth and Mining Technologies (ex-thyssenkrupp) portfolios. FLSmidth acquired thyssenkrupp’s mining assets in 2021.

The new project highlights include EPC including installation & commissioning within 14 months. It will be a fully automated operation with stockpile management plus a reverse bucket system enabling safe, remote operation – a feature proven on the Ben Guerir machines.

KOCH Solutions stated: “We look forward to collaborating closely with OCP and JESA on this exciting new project, continuing our tradition of delivering high-performance, reliable solutions to the mining industry, and building on the decades of strong partnership we are proud to look back on with OCP.”
