National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), in collaboration with the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), organised a dedicated roadshow to highlight the investment potential of the Angul Aluminium Park. The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and aluminium-sector stakeholders to position the park as a future-ready hub for downstream and ancillary aluminium industries.

Strategic Importance of Angul Aluminium Park

The Angul Aluminium Park has been designed as one of India’s most advanced industrial clusters focused exclusively on aluminium-based manufacturing. Spread across 223 acres with planned expansion beyond 600 acres, the park offers a complete ecosystem for downstream industries such as extrusions, conductors, castings, alloy products, foil manufacturing, and precision components.

The park is structured as a joint venture between NALCO and IDCO, combining the operational strength of a leading PSU with the state’s industrial development expertise.

Major Highlights from the Roadshow

1. Commitment to Raw Material Supply

NALCO reaffirmed its commitment to supplying 50,000 tonnes of molten aluminium (hot metal) annually to industries operating within the park. This direct feedstock supply is a significant cost advantage, eliminating transportation costs, reducing delays, and enabling competitive pricing for downstream products.

2. Advanced Infrastructure

The park is equipped with:

  • Dedicated internal road networks

  • Uninterrupted power and water supply

  • Testing laboratories and quality-assurance facilities

  • Administrative and training centres

  • Logistics and warehousing support

Such infrastructure ensures that both new and established industries can operate efficiently and adopt modern aluminium processing technologies.

3. Investor Participation and State Support

Senior officials from NALCO and Odisha’s Industries Department interacted with over 100 investors and industrial associations. Presentations highlighted:

  • Odisha’s proactive industrial policies

  • Ease-of-doing-business reforms

  • GST-related incentives

  • Opportunities in the aluminium value chain such as automotive parts, aerospace components, packaging materials, and electrical applications

The participation of multiple agencies strengthened investor confidence in the project’s long-term vision.

4. Growth Momentum within the Park

Several units have already commenced operations inside the park, and more projects are in advanced stages of approval. The park’s cost-competitive ecosystem is expected to attract small, medium, and large aluminium processors seeking cluster-based advantages.

Economic and Industry Impact

1. Boosting Value Addition

Odisha accounts for the majority of India’s primary aluminium production, yet downstream value addition has historically remained low. The Angul Aluminium Park aims to bridge this gap by enabling aluminium conversion into high-value products domestically, reducing reliance on imports.

2. Job Creation

The park has the potential to generate up to 15,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities once full capacity is achieved, covering manufacturing, logistics, quality control, research, and skill development.

3. Strengthening India’s Aluminium Supply Chain

With a dedicated source of molten metal, the park helps create an integrated aluminium supply chain — from smelting to processing — within one industrial cluster. This model reduces costs, enhances global competitiveness, and promotes innovation in sectors such as EVs, renewable energy, defence, construction, and transportation.
