It’s Giving Tuesday, and we have a great opportunity for giving that any cleantech fan could be happy to support. But, furthermore, while happily giving to a good cause, you could also be ordering yourself the best Christmas present you’ve ever gotten if you get a little lucky.
The Illinois Solar Education Association (ISEA) is raffling off a Rivian — your choice of either an R1S (SUV) or an R1T (pickup truck). Tickets cost $100 per ticket, or you can get 4 tickets for $300, and only 2,500 of them are being sold.
Having driven sooooo many electric vehicles, I am unabashedly a fan of many of them, but I actually think Rivian’s vehicles and Lucid’s are the nicest I’ve driven. They have superb hardware and software, beautiful interiors, and just a super premium, modern feel. Rivian has clearly taken a more “slow and steady” approach than famed EV company Tesla, but it does things right, with extreme care and attention to detail, and its vehicles are top tier. To win a Rivian in a raffle supporting solar power, what could be better?
Note that ISEA has been doing these EV raffles for over 10 years, and at least one CleanTechnica reader has won the raffle. This year’s raffle ends on June 21, 2026, and the winner will be drawn on June 25.
You can get all the details about the raffle here.
Naturally, this is a fundraiser, and the core aim is to support ISEA’s solar power advocacy and education. All proceeds directly benefit ISEA’s mission, which is especially important given the current political opposition. Despite wild efforts to opposed solar and energy storage, it is still one of the cheapest sources of energy, the fastest to build/install, and the #1 choice in the US and globally for new power capacity. ISEA is working hard to ensure that policy makers are aware of the benefits of solar plus storage, and that residents and businesses can benefit from it.
In fact, perhaps you saw the news recently, but ISEA just successfully helped to get the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act (CRGA) passed in Illinois. This will support the Illinois electric grid by getting storage facilities online and is projected to save consumers billions of dollars over the next 20 years! ISEA was instrumental in getting the bill passed, not just because of the work it did on it directly, but also because of the many years the organization has put into building solar education and advocacy in the state, bringing its residents better solar awareness and understanding than most. Supporting ISEA through the raffle means supporting more important work like this!
“ISEA is a very small nonprofit working to make a big change! Every ticket purchased truly makes a difference,” a representative from the organization writes. Indeed.
Now more than ever, we need this kind of state and local work to be done in order to keep advancing the industry in these politically challenging times. Do your bit by supporting ISEA and buying a raffle or four today. 😀
