International design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon has been appointed as Engineering Program Partner for Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO)’s Sustaining Capital teams in Western Australia.
The appointment commenced in October 2025 and will extend to October 2028.
As part of the RTIO Sustaining Capital program, Aurecon will provide a broad range of professional engineering and consultancy services for Rio Tinto’s Water, NPI and Electrical projects, for its operating assets across the Pilbara in Western Australia. The services include:
- Engineering & design;
- Project engineering & management;
- Construction management support;
- On-site engineering;
- Commissioning support;
- Planning and scheduling;
- Contracts and procurement support;
- Estimating; and
- Project control.
Aurecon says it has a strong track record in delivering for Rio Tinto, including a previous multi-year program of work, across six mines and three ports that successfully delivered A$500 million ($332 million) worth of electrical infrastructure upgrades and replacements.
Aurecon has been delivering projects with the RTIO Sustaining Capital teams for more than two decades.
