Iron Mine Contracting banks 39-month contract with Covalent Lithium at Mt Holland

Diversified mining services provider, Iron Mine Contracting, says it has been awarded a 39-month, mining services contract with Covalent Lithium to deliver drill, blast, load and haul, run-of-mine (ROM) management services at the Mt Holland operation in Western Australia’s Goldfields region.

Covalent operates the Mt Holland mine and concentrator and is commissioning its Kwinana Refinery.

The contract commences in February 2026 and will require Iron Mine Contracting to mobilise equipment and 220 employees to site to support the ramp up of production at Mt Holland.

Mt Holland will be the second large-scale lithium mine operated by Iron Mine Contracting, with the company also supporting the development of Liontown Resources’ Kathleen Valley open-pit mine site since 2022.

Iron Mine Contracting has been providing services to WA’s mining sector since its establishment in 2015. It’s currently operating 10 projects across the state, primarily in iron ore, lithium and gold. The company’s current order book is sitting at more than A$1 billion ($665 million).

Iron Mine Contracting Chief Executive Officer, Clinton Keenan, said: “We are extremely pleased to commence this contract at Mt Holland as Covalent seeks to ramp up lithium production. Integrity in everything we do is our key, and ensuring the integrity of mining our client’s orebody is what we achieve. The competitiveness of our company’s owned asset strategy is increasingly being valued by mining companies, and that is evident in this award from Covalent.”

In addition to Covalent and Liontown, the company currently provides either mining or civil services to Rio Tinto, Fortescue Metals Group, Northern Star, Gold Fields and Meeka Metals.

Keenan added: “We always aim to be a solutions-focused contractor. When confronted by a challenge, our first inclination is to respond with action, not a request for variation. That integrity in action, builds trust and enduring relationship with our clients, which is simply good business.”
