SANY delivers first hybrid drive 136-ton class SET150S water truck to Vale
SANY Mining has announced the delivery of the first of a series of 136-ton class hybrid drive water trucks to Vale, one of the world’s leading iron ore producers. It said this marks not only a new chapter in the partnership between the two companies but also “a significant step forward in bringing efficient and sustainable mining solutions to the Brazilian market.”
Since commencing their collaboration in 2021, SANY says it has delivered over thirty pieces of equipment, including excavators and mining trucks, to Vale. It sees the newly delivered SET150S water truck as representing a breakthrough – it is the first ultra-large-tonnage water truck of its kind to enter the Brazilian market, equipped with a 30,000-gallon (approximately 114 m³) tank designed to meet the large-scale dust suppression and cooling needs of South American mines.
The SET150S is powered by SANY’s independently developed dual-engine hybrid system, reducing fuel consumption by over 20% and cutting CO₂ emissions by about 30 tons per year. It says it combines significant environmental benefits with high-capacity water delivery, supporting both operational efficiency and sustainability goals. It has a 1,400 kW output and an Intelligent Energy Management System that optimises the interplay between the two engines and the 148 kWh battery, enabling regenerative braking, optimal engine efficiency ranges, and lower fuel consumption without sacrificing power.
The truck is backed by the strong local service network of SANY Brazil and its dealers. A team of over 200 engineers has been deployed across key mining regions, including São Paulo and Minas Gerais, providing round-the-clock operational support to customers.
Looking ahead, SANY adds that it remains committed to advancing the development of new-energy mining equipment. “Through intelligent and electric lifecycle solutions, we will continue to collaborate with global partners to drive the sustainable transformation of the mining industry.”
