The Subaru Uncharted EV: Two Video Reviews

The Subaru Solterra didn’t impress that much because of its limited range and fairly high price. Though, it might be a great car for some buyers. This new one, the Subaru Uncharted EV, seems much better mainly because it has a range of about 308 miles and a price below $40,000. The lowest priced trim is front-wheel drive. There are other model versions with less range and a higher price.

For those who live in states that still have EV incentives, the Uncharted may be less, but it would be a good idea to check first to see if the incentive applies to this new vehicle.

The Uncharted EV shown in the first video is the GT version, which is a bit over $40,000. Initially, what the lady reviewer, who is five feet and ten inches in height, finds appealing about the small crossover is that she says she has a comfortable amount of room in the rear seat. From the exterior shots, it doesn’t look like this would be the case, so it is encouraging to hear there is ample space.

  • 74.7 kWh battery in the US
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 14-inch touchscreen
  • Dual wireless chargers
  • 6-speaker audio system
  • Cloth upholstery
  • Heated front seats
  • Power driver seat
  • Driver assist technology
  • Regen braking

The Uncharted is said to be comfortable, quiet, and fun by the second reviewers, who go into greater depth. They also like the exterior design, which is said to be sporty and cute — better than other Subarus.

It would be remiss to not mention the charging speed: 10% to 80% in approximately 28–30 minutes using a 150 kW DC fast charger. Also, the vehicle comes with an NACS port.

By appearances from the video, it looks like the long-range, most affordable Uncharted could be a winner for Subaru. Others may prefer the new Nissan Leaf for the lower price.
