Metso mineral processing equipment to help Artemis Gold expand Blackwater gold mine
Metso says it has been awarded orders worth some €39 million ($45 million) for the delivery of crushing and grinding plant equipment for Artemis Gold’s Blackwater Mine Expanded Phase 2 (EP2) development project in central British Columbia, Canada.
The crushing equipment delivery includes a Superior MKIII primary gyratory crusher as well as Nordberg® HP Series
cone crushers. The grinding equipment delivery consists of a Premier 18,000 kW SAG mill and a Premier 18,000 kW ball mill. Metso will also deliver vertical and horizontal slurry pumps, MHC hydrocyclones, and a RockSense particle size analyser.

At the end of last year, Artemis announced board approval for the EP2 development, saying it represented a significant addition to processing plant capacity from the previously announced Phase 1A project, which is currently in construction, growing from an expected 8 Mt/y before the end of 2026 to 21 Mt/y before the end of 2028. Once EP2 is in production, the Blackwater Mine is expected to produce an average of 500,000-525,000 oz of gold for the first 10 full years.
