Electric car sales are down significantly this year as the market remains “hung over” from the end of the $7,500 US EV tax credit. Several electric car models are seeing huge drops in consumer demand, and automakers have been pulling models off the market. The Honda Prologue is no exception when it comes to dropping sales, but Honda may have a solution. Maybe.
Honda is now highlighting a huge $7,500 discount on the Prologue. It’s not normal for an automaker to plop a big discount offer like this on its website, especially one that lines up so magically with the former US tax credit amount. Apparently, Honda is trying something out and seeing what it does to boost consumer sales.
When you click the “SEE OFFERS” button, they want to narrow you down to a specific area, of course, and then feed you along to local dealers. When I put in my zip code, I actually saw an opportunity for an $8,000 sales credit (see below).

Honda sold 1588 Prologue EVs in March, and 3319 overall last quarter, compared to 2884 and 9561, respectively, in March and Q1 2025. The company definitely needs to find a way to move more metal and plastic. Is this opportunity for big “Special Program” discounts going to do the job? How much are consumers actually aware of the discounts?
With the cost of a Prologue cut to just under $40,000 implementing the special offer, is that enough to attract a swarm of new buyers? We will see!
