On 24-25 April 2026, an industry technical exchange event focusing on artificial intelligence applications was held in Jincheng, highlighting recent advances in AI for coal preparation. The event was hosted by the China Coal Processing and Utilisation Association (CCPUA) and organised by Jinneng Holding Equipment Manufacturing Group Co Ltd – a large state-owned coal and energy enterprise in China – and Tianjin Meiteng Technology Co Ltd.
Participants from industry, research institutions, and enterprises discussed AI + industrial applications with a focus on development pathways and practical outcomes for intelligent coal preparation technologies.
Against the backdrop of the global energy transition and the wave of digitalisation, China is accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence with traditional industries. As a foundational energy source, improving the efficient utilisation and clean processing of coal has become a key industry priority. Industry experts note that artificial intelligence, particularly large-scale models, is transforming production modes that traditionally relied on human experience, driving industrial systems toward data-driven operations and intelligent decision-making.
As one of the main organisers, Tianjin Meiteng Technology presented its latest technological progress in intelligent coal preparation. The company introduced its ‘ZhiMei Master’ large model, which integrates digital twin technology with industrial data systems to support real-time analysis and optimisation of production processes.
Taiyou Li, Chairman of Meiteng Technology, stated at the conference that since 2016, when the TDS® intelligent dry sorter was first deployed at the Zhaozhuang Coal Preparation Plant in Jincheng, Shanxi, China, it has driven a revolution in more efficient and environmentally friendly dry coal separation systems within the industry. Today, with the promotion and application of the ZhiMei Master large-scale model, the company says it has achieved a historic leap from ‘freeing hands’ to ’empowering the brain,’ opening up new possibilities for advanced intelligence in the sector.
By integrating the ZhiMei Master model with intelligent coal preparation equipment such as TDS® and TGS® systems, Meiteng Technology says it has effectively improved operational efficiency and economic performance for clients. Looking ahead, Meiteng adds that it will continue to deepen its efforts in large-scale intelligent models, expand applications across more industrial and mining scenarios, and collaborate with industry partners to build a robust ecosystem, driving the deep integration of intelligent technologies with the coal preparation industry.
The on-site demonstration showed that the AI system is capable of analysing real-time data and presenting production processes through a visual interface. It also supports multi-terminal collaboration and decision-making assistance. These technologies are considered to help improve transparency and responsiveness in industrial operations.
The Shihe Coal Mine No. 2 coal preparation plant, which was visited during the event, serves as a benchmark project of Meiteng Technology. It has fully validated the commercial value and practical applicability of the intelligent coal preparation large-scale model. Meiteng said that industry leaders and experts who attended the site inspection highly praised and unanimously recognised the ZhiMei Master large-scale model as well as the achievements in the plant’s intelligent construction.
At the same time, Meiteng Technology also showcased a range of its core equipment, instruments, and systems in a concentrated demonstration, including DCP-intelligent full particle-size coal dry preparation plant, an underground sorting and backfilling system, ultra-compression stack-bag filter press, high-pressure disc filter X-ray–induced ash content analyser, and intelligent loading and transportation system.
These exhibits allowed visitors to experience how intelligent equipment operates in coordination with large-model technologies, and provided a comprehensive view of the collaborative working mode between hardware and AI systems. Overall, the demonstration presented a complete technological evolution from ‘single-machine intelligence’ to ‘system-level intelligence.’
Yonggang Gan, General Manager of Meiteng Technology’s International Marketing Department, stated that Meiteng is ready to share its experience in intelligent coal preparation with global mining peers, advance AI integration and innovation in mineral processing, and welcomes worldwide partners to visit its projects and Tianjin R&D base.
