Epiroc consolidates digital mine planning solutions offering with OreInventory addition

Epiroc is launching what it says is a comprehensive set of digital mine planning solutions globally to further strengthen mining companies’ operations.

The launch marks a milestone in Epiroc’s strategy to consolidate its digital technology acquisitions into one connected offering, bringing together years of integration, development and deep mining domain expertise, it added.

Over the past years, Epiroc has pursued a deliberate strategy of acquiring and integrating specialist digital mining capabilities. The expertise and software heritage of MineRP – acquired in 2021 – is one of the foundations, contributing deep domain knowledge in integrated mine planning, execution and optimisation. In addition, Epiroc has drawn on capabilities and expertise from across its broader portfolio of digital acquisitions to build a unified, scalable offering of planning solutions.

The integration work is now complete, the company says. The individual technologies have been consolidated, further developed and brought together under Epiroc’s Groundbreaking Intelligence portfolio. The result is five purpose-built planning solutions – including one entirely new product, OreInventory – now available to mining customers worldwide, backed by Epiroc’s global presence and deployment expertise.

The five planning solutions are: Work Manager, SimulatOre, Drill Quality Manager, InterOp, and the new OreInventory.

André Steenkamp, General Manager Plan Product Line, said: “Looking ahead, we will continue to develop and strengthen planning solutions to bring mine planning and operational execution even closer together in one connected workflow. By strengthening interoperability through InterOp, we will help customers build a single, trusted source of information across planning, geology, survey and operations – reducing manual handovers and enabling faster, better decisions shift by shift.”

Work Manager is a short-term planning and work management tool for active digital shift support that helps mining teams collaboratively plan, execute, track and review all shift work to improve compliance with the plan, Epiroc says. Work Manager provides real-time shift visibility, resource/task orchestration, multi-user collaboration and integrated reporting.

SimulatOre is an AI and analytics decision-support platform that combines predictive modelling, optimisation and simulation to help mines reduce disruption and manage risk while meeting production and financial targets. SimulatOre enables users to predict expected conditions, optimise decisions (targets, routing, blending, deployment) and test plans against real-world variability before execution, Epiroc says.

OreInventory is a mineral inventory, material characterisation and ore-flow management solution that centralises ore-flow networks, stockpile balances, grades and movement tracking to support blending and supply chain decisions. OreInventory also supports reliable ore accounting, reconciliation and auditable reporting by integrating geology, plans, surveys and operational feedback.

Drill Quality Manager is a fleet-agnostic drill quality management solution for surface and underground operations that monitors, visualises and optimises drilling performance using drill quality analytics and near real-time 3D visualisation. Drill Quality Manager helps teams compare planned versus actual drilling, identify deviations quickly, reduce re-drilling, and improve fragmentation and resource use.

InterOp is a digital interoperability and data management platform that integrates mining and enterprise systems into a unified data ecosystem (built on MiODS, the Mine Operational Data Store). InterOp enables real-time data exchange, governance and analytics across planning, geology, survey, ERP and operational systems to support a consistent “single version of the truth”, Epiroc says.

Håkan Schildt, Vice President Business Line Safety & Digital Applications, concluded: “The global launch of our digital mine planning solutions is a result of the consolidation and integration work we have driven across Epiroc’s digital technology acquisitions. By bringing together specialist capabilities, including the heritage of MineRP as one of the cornerstones, we are now able to offer mining customers a seamlessly connected digital ecosystem spanning from mine safety, planning to operation technologies. The five solutions…form the foundation that enables safer operations, better decision making and more efficient execution, from strategic intent to shift‑by‑shift delivery, supported by Epiroc’s global expertise.”
