A new era of high-performance electric driving has officially landed in the local automotive market with the debut of BYD’s latest flagship, the BYD Sealion zero-emission SUV. Distributed by ACMobility, the automotive arm of Ayala Corporation, the highly anticipated model made its premiere at a public event in Makati City, combining the track-inspired engineering of a sport sedan with the elevated utility of a modern family ride.

“With the BYD Sealion 7, consumers no longer need to choose between high performance thrill and everyday practicality,” says Bob Palanca, Managing Director, BYD Cars Philippines. “Bridging sustainability and dynamic, exhilarating mobility, this vehicle marks another key milestone as we continue to lead the country’s charge towards electrification.”

Engineered for drivers who crave rapid acceleration alongside cutting-edge tech, the vehicle utilizes two independent electric motors to drive all four wheels. The sophisticated powertrain generates a total maximum output of 523 horsepower and 690 Newton-meters of torque, enabling the crossover to sprint from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in under five seconds.

Energy is sourced from a robust lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack with a capacity of 82.6 kilowatt-hours, achieving a maximum theoretical range of over 500 kilometers under standard testing. This generous capacity allows for extensive long-distance road trips across Luzon before needing a charge, while multiple driving profiles permit the operator to alter the responsiveness of the vehicle based on current road conditions.

The exterior dimensions create a commanding presence on the road, translating into an exceptionally generous cabin that incorporates multiple premium amenities. Front passengers enjoy climate-controlled seating with electronic adjustments, while an expansive glass roof enhances the open feel of the cabin. Cargo management is made easy through an automated rear hatch that activates via a foot sensor underneath the bumper, complementing a secondary storage trunk located right under the front hood.

The digital setup inside the cabin focuses heavily on connectivity and intuitive controls. Central to the dashboard is a massive multimedia monitor that rotates mechanically between portrait and landscape layouts, supporting seamless integration with major smartphone platforms alongside a heads-up display that projects critical driving data onto the windshield.

Beyond daily commuting, the vehicle functions as a mobile generator for external equipment through bidirectional charging capabilities. This utility enables owners to run electronics and tools directly from the main vehicle battery, serving as a functional power source during outdoor camping trips or unexpected household brownouts.

A comprehensive array of proactive safety features serves to safeguard occupants and pedestrians alike. The integrated safety suite utilizes perimeter sensors and cameras to facilitate smart highway cruising, automatic braking to mitigate collisions, and lane keeping assistance. Furthermore, an internal monitoring sensor continuously tracks facial cues to identify signs of operator fatigue, providing timely alerts during extended stints behind the wheel.

The premium all-wheel-drive variant carries a retail price of just under 2.6 million pesos, a figure that encompasses extensive warranty coverage for both the chassis and the high-voltage battery components. Ownership expenses are further reduced by an optimized maintenance schedule that demands professional servicing only once every twelve months, representing significant financial savings compared to traditional internal combustion vehicles of a similar size.

Specialized financing arrangements are accessible through institutional banking partners for buyers who finalize their transactions before the end of next month. These introductory packages feature reduced down payments and complimentary vehicle insurance coverage for the first year of ownership.

The public launch marks the start of a multi-day mall showcase where car buyers can examine the vehicle closely and experience its driving dynamics firsthand. Individuals who place a reservation onsite during the promotional window will receive specialized purchasing incentives that are unavailable through standard retail channels.

The roadshow also showcases the wider portfolio of alternative energy vehicles from the manufacturer, encompassing both pure battery-electric options and advanced plug-in hybrids. This diverse lineup highlights the brand strategy to provide a specialized eco-friendly transport solution for various consumer preferences and driving requirements across the country.
