The rollout ceremony for the Zijin Longking ZL230E pure electric mining truck, combined with an investment promotion and business matching event for the ‘Mining + Intelligent Manufacturing’ industry in Xinluo District, was held in Longyan City, Fujian Province on August 10, 2026.
The 230 t class ZL230E (formerly the LK350E) is currently the largest-tonnage pure electric mining truck in China and was independently developed by Zijin Longking. This marks another milestone breakthrough for Zijin Longking in the field of new energy mining equipment, further demonstrating the company’s strong momentum in accelerating its strategic expansion into this new sector and driving the green, low-carbon transformation of the mining industry.
As a new-generation, new-energy mining vehicle designed for high-intensity operations in ultra-large open-pit mines, the ZL230E all-electric mining truck features a gross vehicle weight of 350 t, an empty weight of 120 t, and a maximum payload of 230 t, with a heaped body capacity of 125 m³. Zijin Longking states: “Offering comprehensive advantages such as low energy consumption, high reliability, ease of maintenance, and high hauling capacity, it fully meets the demands of large-scale mining operations – including long-distance transport, heavy-load uphill climbing, and continuous work under complex conditions – thereby effectively enhancing transport efficiency, reducing operating costs, and providing robust equipment support for the development of green mines.”
The ZL230E innovatively adopts a multi-axle, centrally distributed, independent drive architecture paired with dual high-power 800 kW motors, enabling precise power distribution and efficient, coordinated output. Real-time power matching across drive axles and sustained power delivery during hill climbing effectively enhance the vehicle’s reliability and adaptability in complex mining environments. Equipped with a high-capacity, long-life, ultra-fast-charging battery system, it supports charging to 90% capacity in just 25 minutes, significantly reducing downtime and boosting overall operational efficiency.
To meet the demanding requirements of mining operations – characterized by heavy loads, high-intensity usage, and strict safety standards – the ZL230E utilises Longking’s patented high-rigidity, large-cross-section frame structure featuring multiple ring beams. “By integrating technologies such as a dual-control chassis design, multi-level redundant braking and steering systems, and intelligent energy management, it establishes a comprehensive safety protection system covering the vehicle structure, powertrain, braking system, and steering system, thereby ensuring safe and stable mining operations.”
At the ceremony, Zijin Longking President Huang Wei stated that, by leveraging the powerful empowerment of its major shareholder Zijin Mining and the company’s advantages in global mining operational scenarios, Zijin Longjing is accelerating the development of new energy mining equipment – its most promising strategic growth engine – and is continuously deepening the independent R&D of high-tonnage electric mining trucks. With electric mining trucks as the core platform, Zijin Longjing aims to deeply integrate resources such as wind power, photovoltaics, energy storage, and charging/swapping infrastructure. The company “will build an integrated ‘Wind-Solar-Storage-Charging-Equipment’ green energy solution for mines, thereby empowering the industry to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and achieve green development.”
Zijin Longking is a clean energy and environmental protection subsidiary of global mining company Zijin Mining Group. Formed through Zijin Mining’s major stake in Fujian Longking, the company develops specialised heavy mining equipment, renewable power generation, and battery-electric mining trucks.
At the meeting, autonomous haulage technology major EACON Mining signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Fujian Longking Lianhui Technology, within which the two parties will engage in in-depth cooperation across areas such as driverless mining vehicles, smart mines, new energy mining equipment, and the integration of vehicles, roads, and the cloud. Longking Lianhui is a new Fujian Longking subsidiary devoted to expansion in intelligent and green mining equipment solutions.
EACON is a global leader in autonomous driving technology for mining trucks; its solutions have been deployed at scale across more than 40 large-scale mines, including Zijin Mining’s Zijinshan Gold-Copper Mine and Julong Copper Mine in Tibet, as well as at the Norton Gold Fields project in Australia (owned by Zijin Gold International). EACON now has over 3,100 autonomous mining trucks in operation with a cumulative autonomous transport distance exceeding 150 million kilometres.
The companies say this partnership will further integrate the technical capabilities of both enterprises in new energy mining equipment and autonomous driving, accelerating the R&D and implementation of intelligent solutions for new energy mining trucks. Cooperation will focus on three key areas:
First, jointly developing intelligent systems; leveraging Longking Lianhui’s all-electric mining truck platform and integrating EACON’s full-stack capabilities – spanning perception, decision-making, control, and cloud-based dispatch – to create driverless mining dump trucks tailored for open-pit mining environments.
Second, jointly driving large-scale deployment – collaboratively advancing scenario-based validation and large-scale deployment of intelligent mining equipment, while accelerating the practical application of integrated solutions under real-world operating conditions.
Third, jointly building an industry ecosystem – partnering to tackle core technological challenges and establish intellectual property portfolios, actively participating in the formulation of industry standards, and driving the systematic and standardised development of driverless mining technology.
The statement said: “The electrification and intelligentisation of mining operations are currently converging at an accelerated pace. This strategic partnership will further foster synergy between new-energy mining equipment and autonomous driving technologies, extend the respective strengths of both parties into real-world mining environments, and jointly explore more efficient and intelligent mining transport solutions.”
