Introduction to the Author – PITTALA RAVINDER
Born in a remote fishing village of Telangana, Pittala Ravinder's earliest memories are intertwined
with the rhythms of the streams and the age-old traditions of his community. Emerging from a family
whose livelihoods revolved around fishing, he was steeped in this culture from childhood—a
foundation that has continuously inspired his life's work.
After completing his graduation from Osmania University, Pittala Ravinder pursued his passion for
storytelling by undertaking a journalism course at Mysore University. His journey took him further
when he earned an MBA from the Institute of Management Studies in Bangalore, a blend of
disciplines that uniquely positioned him to navigate the realms of media, entrepreneurship, and
social activism. His career as a working journalist commenced with a vernacular Telugu daily and
later to Indian Express, before ascending to the role of an editor and eventually establishing himself
as a respected freelance journalist. Over the years, his incisive reporting on diverse subjects—from
the coal industry in Telangana's Singareni coal belt to the voices of coal miners and landless
workers—cemented his reputation as a fearless storyteller.
