BTOB, Lee Chae Yeon and More: K-POP IP Goes Onchain With Sony Crypto

BTOB and Lee Chae Yeon’s agency is making a move into crypto, partnering with Sony-backed Soneium to explore bringing K-Pop intellectual property and entertainment revenue onchain.

DayOneDream will use its WAVIST platform to explore tokenizing K-pop IP, following an earlier onchain bond that financed entertainment rights through issuance, repayment, and redemption.

The collaboration leans on a verified milestone rather than a fresh pilot: in May, WAVIST completed the full lifecycle of a tokenized IP bond issued to finance K-pop IP, running from issuance through final redemption and token burning, according to the companies.

That is the concrete part. What has not happened yet is a public sale of any specific artist’s revenue rights to general fans, and eligibility and regulatory requirements will apply to whatever comes next.

What did Soneium and DayOneDream Actually Announce for the Kpop Crypto Space?

The partnership centers on WAVIST, DayOneDream’s platform for bringing K-pop IP into real-world financial infrastructure.

Soneium and DayOneDream say they will jointly explore ways to bring K-pop IP and its associated economic value onchain at scale, combining DayOneDream’s entertainment expertise with Soneium’s blockchain infrastructure and ecosystem.

Access for eligible users to these assets will be subject to applicable regulatory and eligibility requirements, the companies noted. That framing matters: this is an infrastructure partnership, not a storefront opening for fan purchases.

How WAVIST Proved Onchain Settlement Can Work

The strongest evidence behind the announcement is operational, not promotional. In May, WAVIST issued a tokenized IP bond to finance K-pop IP and carried it through to final redemption and burning entirely onchain, demonstrating that real-world entertainment assets can move through an end-to-end onchain framework rather than stopping at a simple registry entry.

The companies have not disclosed the bond’s size, interest rate, target artist, investor count, or sales territory. It mirrors a broader real-world asset (RWA) trend already reshaping equities, where tokenized real-world assets are pushing tokenized stocks toward record volumes on competing platforms.

The Partners Behind the Push

Soneium is positioned as blockchain infrastructure built to power an onchain ecosystem for entertainment and IP. DayOneDream is an entertainment company that manages K-pop artists, global concerts, and IP; its roster includes BTOB, LEE CHAE YEON, MEMI, and 2F.

The partnership pairs DayOneDream’s K-pop IP and entertainment know-how, delivered through WAVIST, with Soneium’s network and expanding ecosystem.

That combination sits inside a wider institutional shift toward digital asset frameworks covering stablecoins and tokenization now taking shape across major markets.

Why This Isn’t a Public Sale Yet

Soneium and WAVIST plan to keep bringing tokenized K-content assets and their associated revenue streams onchain, giving eligible users new ways to access supported IP while creating monetization options for IP owners.

Both of those goals are explicitly conditioned on applicable regulatory and eligibility requirements. Nothing in the announcement describes a trading venue, a purchase mechanism, a yield, or a specific artist product available now.

Those same investor-protection and listing questions have already surfaced in the broader debate over tokenized stock trading platforms.

What the Executives Are Saying

Dylan Cho, RWA Lead at DayOneDream, said: “K-pop is a market unlike any other, yet the way capital reaches it has barely changed. Our partnership with Soneium sits where RWA, IP, and K-pop meet, and it opens a real path to investing through the IP itself. With the world watching this industry, we intend to make it the most compelling product out there.”

Yuji Kumagai, Head of Soneium Protocol, said: “Entertainment IP is one of the clearest opportunities for bringing real-world value onchain.”

He added that Soneium aims to connect creators and IP owners with strong followings, like DayOneDream, with the fans and investors who want to back them.

Why KPop Crypto IP Onchain Matters

K-pop has grown into a major global cultural industry, but the financial value it generates has largely stayed locked inside traditional ownership and investment structures, leaving millions of fans with few ways to participate in the economics behind the music.

Soneium and DayOneDream frame themselves as early movers in changing that, giving fans and investors new access to IP they already support while giving creators new tools to raise capital.

Kumagai called K-pop ‘a great place to start’, adding that Soneium intends to keep bringing more entertainment IP onto the network over time.
