BYD Expands PH EV Lineup with Double Model Launch, Celebrates Sealion 6 Milestone
BYD Cars Philippines marked the second anniversary of its popular Sealion 6 DM-i plug-in hybrid with an exclusive drive-in cinema gathering at Ayala Malls Trinoma. The milestone event brought together over 60 vehicle owners following a multi-point convoy across Luzon, highlighting the momentum of the brand as it expands its local electrified ecosystem.
Managing Director Bob Palanca emphasized the importance of the growing owner community during the celebration. “Our BYD Sealion 6 owners are the true heartbeat of the brand,” Palanca said. “Every story they share, every new driver they welcome into the fold, and every kilometer they put on their Sealion 6 DM-i is a testament to the trust they’ve placed in us. We’re committed to matching that trust with exceptional, reliable after-sales support as this community continues to grow.”
This event built on the momentum created by the simultaneous launch of the all-new BYD Atto 2 subcompact crossover and the updated BYD Seal 5 DM-i compact sedan. The double product introduction at the Trinoma Activity Center reinforces the company’s push to lower traditional barriers to new energy vehicles for everyday drivers, families, and commercial fleet operators.

Atto 2 crossover powertrain options and features
The Atto 2 arrives as an entry-level crossover built on BYD’s smart-first SUV architecture. It is available in three distinct variants, comprising a pure battery electric vehicle and two dual-mode intelligent plug-in hybrid models offered in Dynamic and Premium trims. The pure electric variant delivers a driving range of up to 380 kilometers on a single charge. The plug-in hybrid Dynamic and Premium variants provide an electric-only range of up to 45 kilometers and a combined cruising range of 1,340 kilometers, based on efficiency testing conducted in partnership with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).
All Atto 2 models incorporate BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery system, engineered for thermal stability, structural durability, and sustained performance. Interior equipment includes a 12.8-inch central touchscreen display on the electric model and a 10.1-inch display on the hybrid variants, with both systems supporting standard smartphone connectivity. The top-tier plug-in hybrid Premium variant is the sole trim in the crossover line fitted with the DiPilot suite of advanced driver assistance systems. In addition, the electric variant offers Vehicle-to-Load capability, allowing the main traction battery to supply power to external electronic devices, tools, and appliances.
Seal 5 DM-i sedan specifications and range
Building on the initial introduction of the Seal 5 platform in 2024, the updated Seal 5 DM-i introduces BYD’s fifth-generation Super DM-i plug-in hybrid system across Essential and Dynamic variants. In a joint efficiency test with the AAP the updated sedan achieved a total combined driving range of up to 2,181 kilometers.
The entry-level Essential variant features a 7.42 kWh Blade Battery that provides an electric driving range of up to 55 kilometers. The Dynamic variant incorporates a larger 18.3 kWh Blade Battery, extending pure electric operation to 115 kilometers. Interior appointments include an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control with rear vents, and multiple USB charging ports. Cabin storage includes 522 liters of standard trunk capacity, expanding to 1,295 liters when the rear seats are folded down. Standard safety equipment across both sedan trims includes Cruise Control, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, rear parking sensors, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Hold Control, Automatic Vehicle Hold, and multiple airbags.
Pricing, warranties, and market distribution
Both vehicle lines feature introductory pricing and special financing structures through BPI from July 28 to August 31, 2026. Official suggested retail prices for both lineups will formally take effect on September 1, 2026.
Suggested retail prices for the Atto 2 crossover start at P1,048,000 ($17,250) for the plug-in hybrid Dynamic variant, P1,258,000 ($20,700) for the plug-in hybrid Premium variant, and P1,338,000 ($22,000) for the pure electric variant. Exterior color options include Breeze Green (exclusive to the electric model), Harbour Grey, Midnight Blue, Ski White, and Cosmos Black (exclusive to the hybrid models).
Suggested retail prices for the Seal 5 DM-i sedan are set at P948,000 ($15,600) for the Essential variant and P1,048,000 ($17,250) for the Dynamic variant. Exterior paint choices for the sedan comprise Deep Sea Blue, Cosmos Black, Atlantis Grey, and Harbour Grey.
Every Atto 2 and Seal 5 DM-i unit includes an eight-year drive unit warranty, a six-year or 160,000-kilometer bumper-to-bumper vehicle coverage package, and an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty dedicated to the Blade Battery.
