Cards Against Humanity Has A Bone To Pick With Elon Musk

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has persistently undercut his own company’s former reputation as a planet-saving force for good, but that has not prevented Tesla from maintaining a tight grip on the EV market here in the US. Still, for what it’s worth, the brand reputation hits keep on coming. Two recent contributions are particularly noteworthy, coming from the popular game-maker Cards Against Humanity and the General Accountability Office of Congress, too.

Cards Against Humanity Wants To Erect A Statue For Elon Musk

Cards Against Humanity launched in 2014 and soon gained a reputation for deploying high profile pranks in the service of its bitingly humorous card games. In 2017, the company bought a plot of land in Texas on the Mexican border, purportedly in order to halt the construction of US President Donald Trump’s notorious border wall. The funds were raised by fans of the game, 150,000 of whom pitched in $15.00 each in just one month to fund the land purchase. Some of the money also went to retain a legal firm specializing eminent domain cases.

“If Trump tries to build a wall on our land, we’ll be a big pain in the ass,” the company declared.

Much water has passed under the bridge since 2017, one highlight being Elon Musk’s chainsaw-evoking tenure as head of Trump’s DOGE budget-cutting office last year. In the meantime, Cards Against Humanity accused Musk’s SpaceX venture of trespassing on its land in Texas, bringing in gravel, tractors, and debris from the space operation.

“Last year, we took Musk’s ass to court. After battling his team of expensive, jizz-gargling lawyers, we eventually got him to admit on the record that his company did, in fact, f–k up our land. Which is illegal. Then he packed up his space garbage and left,” Cards Against Humanity explains in a recently posted statement (note: expletive masked).

Next Steps For Cards Against Humanity

The settlement was not the end of the story. “That brings us to today. Our land is now surrounded by a ‘town’ called ‘Starbase’—a corporate hellscape littered with broken rockets and ugly mansions for Musk’s s–t-eating executives,” the company explains (note: another expletive masked).

“But hope is not lost. We still have our rights as proud Texas landowners: we can build something on our land,” Cards Against Humanity continues. “Something that will annoy Elon Musk. Something that will make him wonder, for a brief moment, “Wait, am I a sad little b–h with no friends?” (note: and another one…).

The idea is to build a monument (or anti-monument, as the case may be) to Elon Musk on the land, funded by $10.00 contributions from fans of the game.  “On both sides of our land, Musk is building mansions for his harem of prostitutes executives, who we’re confident will enjoy seeing our monument whenever they look out the window,” Cards Against Humanity explains.

With their $10.00 contribution, the givers can join the monument design committee. “You’ll get to make suggestions, vote between options, be part of a community, and brag to your friends that you helped Cards Against Humanity f–k with Elon Musk, the company emphasizes (one more note…).

Never one to miss a publicity moment, Cards Against Humanity also explains that fans can contribute by purchasing its new expansion packs, with 10% of the proceeds from the Cards Against Humanity website going to fund the new memorial (purchases made elsewhere do come with a contribution).

Elon Musk Has Some ‘Splaining To Do…

By now, Musk’s “cost-cutting” tenure at DOGE has been thoroughly exposed as a catastrophic failure, one example being a minority staff report from the US Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, posted in August 2025 under the title, “The $21.7 Billion Blunder: Analyzing the Waste Generated by DOGE.”

In this context, minority refers to the Democratic members of the Senate, who are currently outnumbered by the Republican counterparts. A majority report has yet to surface, but Democratic Senator Blumenthal had plenty to say about the report.

“The Trump Administration has used DOGE to recklessly slash government programs, ransacking critical services and resources and proudly displaying supposed ‘savings’ on its Wall of Receipts,” Sen. Blumenthal stated in a press release dated August 6, 2025, with “Wall of Receipts” referring to a DOGE web page supposedly informing the public of its achievements.

…And Even More ‘Splaining To Do

In the same press release, Blumenthal noted that the Government Accountability Office also found that DOGE failed to verify 96% of its claimed grant savings, among other serious shortcomings.

Apparently DOGE, and Musk, took the findings to heart — JK! In a new report issued on August 6, GAO notes that the Wall of Receipts purports to show a total savings of $110 billion on contracts, grants, and leases as of this past July. However, DOGE again failed to provide supporting information.

“Specifically, DOGE did not use its stated methodology to calculate the majority of savings associated with the contracts reported as terminated. For grants, DOGE did not provide sufficient information to verify the method used to calculate 96 percent of DOGE-reported savings. Similarly, the Wall of Receipts does not include an explanation of how the savings from terminated leases were calculated,” GAO explained.

Who Is Buying All These Tesla EVs?

Absent any meaningful attempt by DOGE to correct the record, GAO advises that its website, like any other federal website, should at least include a disclosure regarding the observed issues with its data. GAO also notes that officials at DOGE did not respond to its disclosure request.

That’s not surprising. Where Elon Musk is concerned, there is a long gap between should and will. Although his officially tenure at DOGE reportedly ended last year, the culture of willful recklessness remains.

This latest round of reputational issues could revive the Tesla boycott movement, which gathered steam last year in Europe on account of Musk’s political meddling alongside blowback here in the US.

That remains to be seen. Regardless of the recent downturn after the elimination of a key federal tax credit,” Tesla remains at the top of the EV market heap in the US. “Tesla grabs 60% of EV registrations in June as rivals pull back, total registrations fall,” reads an August 14 headline in Automotive News, ahead of a paywall.

Indeed. Those rivals did pull back, but some have smelled blood in the water, including Ford as well as the startups Slate and Rivian, among others laying plans for an EV comeback in 2027 and beyond — without the reputational baggage. Hold on to your hats…
