Raipur: The Director (Technical) of Coal India Limited conducted a comprehensive review visit to Gevra Coal Mine, recognised as Asia’s largest coal mine, to assess ongoing operations, safety practices, and production performance.
During the visit, senior mine officials briefed the Director on key operational parameters, including overburden removal, coal dispatch systems, mechanisation levels, and progress on productivity enhancement initiatives. Emphasis was placed on maintaining high safety standards while optimising output to meet rising demand.
The Director also reviewed environmental management measures, land reclamation activities, and the deployment of advanced mining technologies aimed at improving efficiency and reducing operational risks. Interactions were held with engineers and supervisory staff to understand on-ground challenges and identify areas for process improvement.
The review visit underscores Coal India’s focus on strengthening operational excellence at its flagship mines, with Gevra playing a critical role in sustaining the country’s coal supply and energy security.
