Commerce Ministry Launches ‘Koyla Shakti’ Coal Analytics Dashboard to Boost Transparency and Efficiency

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Coal, has launched an advanced coal analytics dashboard named ‘Koyla Shakti’ to enhance data transparency, improve decision-making, and streamline operations across India’s coal sector.

Unveiled on Thursday in New Delhi, the Koyla Shakti platform provides real-time insights into coal production, dispatch, consumption, stock levels, and logistics, integrating data from Coal India Ltd (CIL), Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), and captive and commercial mines.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, while inaugurating the platform, said the initiative represents a significant step towards digital governance in the coal ecosystem. “Koyla Shakti will empower policymakers, industry stakeholders, and consumers by offering a unified data view, fostering accountability, and supporting India’s energy security goals,” Goyal said.

The dashboard also features AI-driven analytics tools to forecast demand, identify supply bottlenecks, and optimize coal movement. Officials said the system would help improve efficiency in coal allocation and transportation, ensuring timely availability of fuel for thermal power plants and industrial users.

The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of promoting data-driven decision-making and achieving self-reliance in energy through digital innovation.
