Decmil to construct infrastructure for Rio Tinto-led West Angelas Sustaining Project

Macmahon Holdings Limited’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Decmil, has received a notice of award from Rio Tinto for its West Angelas Sustaining Project (WASP) in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The Western Hill contract is valued at A$120 million ($80.3 million) and involves construction of a heavy haulage road, light vehicle access roads and associated drainage works. Work is expected to commence in January 2026 and to be completed in 2027.

This award is made under a newly established earthworks framework agreement with Rio Tinto for projects in the Pilbara, Macmahon noted.

The WASP project involves the development of new iron ore deposits in the West Angelas hub, maintaining the West Angelas hub’s total annual production capacity of 35 Mt and extending mining activity for years to come, Rio Tinto said last year.

Managing Director and CEO of Macmahon, Michael Finnegan, said: “With this award, we are pleased to further strengthen our strategic relationship with Rio Tinto
and partner with them to deliver the bulk earthworks project at the West Angelas project. It helps build momentum in our civil infrastructure business transitioning to larger civil projects. This award brings a total of A$201 million in civil contract wins for Decmil with Rio Tinto (Brockman MEM A$81 million, WASP A$120 million) which generates substantial earnings momentum into the second half of FY26 and FY27.”
