Energy Fuels to Acquire Australian Strategic Materials in $300 Million Strategic Deal

US-based critical minerals producer Energy Fuels has announced plans to acquire Australian Strategic Materials in a deal valued at approximately $300 million, marking a significant move to strengthen its position in the global rare earths and critical minerals supply chain.

The acquisition is aimed at expanding Energy Fuels’ access to strategically important materials used in clean energy technologies, electric vehicles, advanced electronics, and defence applications. Australian Strategic Materials owns and operates high-purity metals and alloys production capabilities, along with access to long-life mineral resources, making it a key player in the non-Chinese critical minerals ecosystem.

According to the announcement, the transaction will combine Energy Fuels’ upstream mining and processing strengths with Australian Strategic Materials’ downstream manufacturing and metallisation expertise. This integration is expected to enhance supply security for rare earth elements and other critical materials amid rising geopolitical and industrial demand.

The deal also reflects growing collaboration between North American and Australian companies to develop resilient, diversified supply chains for strategic minerals. Subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, the acquisition is expected to be completed later this year.

Industry analysts view the move as a strategically timed expansion, positioning Energy Fuels to benefit from accelerating global investments in clean energy infrastructure and advanced manufacturing.
