ESCO launches Nexsys Ripper System for improved dozer performance

Weir’s ESCO division has released its latest ripping innovation for large dozers, the Nexsys® Ripper System, guiding for advanced performance on Cat D11 dozers.

Ripping with large dozers in mining, aggregate or heavy construction applications represents some of the most demanding conditions for ground engaging tools. ESCO has equipped the Nexsys Ripper System with premium grade alloys and industry-leading manufacturing to cater to such an application.

It explained: “The Nexsys mining ripper system was developed using finite element analysis for higher system strength, discrete element modeling for greater system stability and extensive field testing. The result is increased reliability, safer in-field replacement and better performance than conventional ripper systems.”

The upgraded nose has higher strength and stability to withstand ripping at its toughest, while the optimised point profile assists with material flow and is configured for better penetration while maintaining sharpness throughout its service life. A sealed hammerless lock simplifies point replacement, Weir added.

Major system attributes include:

  • Increased system reliability for more machine uptime;
  • Safer in-field replacement helps protect site personnel;
  • Bit wear material increased by more than 45% over Uni-Lok points;
  • Improved system performance provides more production;
  • Optimised lock makes tooth replacement easier and faster; and
  • Greater system strength and stability delivers longer life.
