Flexco recently announced the addition of the Flextreme PXT Secondary Belt Cleaner Cushion to its line of belt conveyor products. Specifically engineered for extreme heavy-duty mining applications, the PXT helps to convey larger material tonnages at higher speeds, all while keeping belt conveyor systems clean.
“We’re excited to bring this breakthrough technology to our worldwide customers who are pushing their conveyor systems harder than ever before,” Kevin Fales, Heavy Duty Belt Conveyor Product Manager at Flexco, says. “Mining operations across the globe are demanding longer P-Type Flextreme Cushion run times and higher throughput, and the PXT cushion delivers the durability and performance needed to meet these increasingly challenging requirements.”
The new cushion features a single-piece stainless steel body with a polyurethane dampener pressed into it. This patented design ensures superior durability while eliminating the risk of delamination, according to the company. Additionally, the cushion is 15% lighter than the previous design, improving safety during maintenance by reducing manual handling effort. The PXT cushion now provides a reliable solution for long shutdown cycles, high-speed belts and increased tonnage applications where standard cushions experience premature fatigue.
Fales added: “This innovative design delivers unmatched longevity and reliability for high-speed belts operating at up to 7.5 meters per second on a vulcanized belt. Extensive trials conducted at mining operations worldwide have demonstrated that the new cushions not only exceed current shutdown cycle expectations but also show minimal signs of failure or fatigue even under the most demanding conditions.”
The PXT cushion is ideal for heavy-duty applications across industries including aggregate, cement, coal, copper, open-pit/hard-rock mining, and underground mining. It is fully compatible with existing P-type cleaners and can be used with Flexco standard and extra-life tungsten tips.
