Ford PH to Launch Mustang Mach-E by 3Q This Year

Ford Philippines will launch its first all-electric vehicle, the Mustang Mach-E, by the 3^rd quarter of 2025. This was just announced by Pedro Simoes, Ford PH managing director.

Earlier this year, Simoes told the local media during the Henry Ford Automotive Journalism Awards that it would start its “electrification journey” with two products, but never mentioned which vehicles. The coin toss among the motoring press was which would come first, the Mustang Mach-E or the F-150 Lightning.

“We chose the Mustang because it will have such strong appeal to the buyer. It has the muscle car history behind it, but with electric motors while keeping with the Mustang DNA,” Simoes told CleanTechnica at a media event last Thursday.

“It is only fitting that we take our big leap in our electrification journey with an iconic Ford vehicle. The arrival of the Mach-E reinforces Ford as a credible and must-watch player in the electric vehicle (EV) segment in the country,” Simoes said as he acknowledged the strong local following for the traditional pony car. “With a continuously growing community of Mustang owners in the Philippines, the Mustang Mach-E will surely give enthusiasts an electrified experience like no other.”

The Mustang Mach-E is a groundbreaking vehicle for Ford in the Philippines. Since its inception in 1964, the Mustang has been a symbol of American automotive culture, representing “freedom, progress, performance and a touch of rebellion,” qualities Ford hopes to carry over into the electric era with the Mach-E.

This is its first-ever production model designed from the ground up as a fully electric vehicle, and using the Mustang not as a platform but deriving its DNA in putting it into an SUV silhouette. Blending the iconic Mustang’s performance-oriented heritage with the cutting-edge technology and efficiency of an electric powertrain.

While Ford Philippines has not yet released official specifications, it is widely anticipated that the models slated for the Philippine market will be sourced from Ford’s Cuautitlán Stamping and Assembly Plant in Mexico, which currently serves as the primary global production hub for the Mach-E.

Based on the model’s international lineup, the variant most likely suited for the Philippine market would be the Mustang Mach-E Premium. This model strikes a balance between advanced features and accessibility. It will likely be equipped with the standard-range battery, offering an estimated range of over 400 kilometers on a full charge, a figure that is more than adequate for typical driving conditions in the Philippines and helps to mitigate range anxiety for new EV owners. This configuration offers spirited performance without the higher cost associated with the top-tier GT variants.

Ford has stated that more detailed information regarding the available variants, specific features, final pricing, and the official start of sales at dealerships will be made public closer to the launch date in 2025.
