GR Engineering Services Limited has been appointed preferred contractor by Ora Banda Mining Limited in relation to the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works for a 3 Mt/y process plant as part of the Davyhurst Expansion Project, in Western Australia.
The EPC update followed an ASX release from Ora Banda Mining laying out plans to double production in the next three years, with the new process plant at Davyhurst – which already has a 1.2 Mt/y mill – part of this.
The new plant will be made up of single stage crushing (via a jaw crusher) to bring material down to a P80 of 140 mm, grinding with a 6 MW SAG and 6 MW ball mill, designed to achieve P80 of 90 μm at 3 Mt/y throughput (nameplate capacity), along with a gravity and hybrid carbon in leach recovery circuit designed to recover circa-91% of gold. The new plant will be located close to the existing Davyhurst plant, allowing the new plant to leverage off the existing run of mine facilities.
Construction of the plant is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of FY27, with commissioning expected in Q3 FY28.
This gold project is located 120 km northwest of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The scope of work comprises the design, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning for the project.
The estimated contract value is A$233 million ($167 million). An early works agreement has been executed and ordering of long lead items and engineering works have previously commenced. The EPC contract is expected to be executed shortly.
Tony Patrizi, Managing Director of GR Engineering, said: “GR Engineering is pleased to have been selected by Ora Banda as the preferred contractor for the delivery of the Davyhurst Expansion Project. We see this award as a strong endorsement of GR Engineering’s proven process design record and EPC delivery capability in the gold sector in Western Australia. We look forward to working with the Ora Banda team again on the successful and safe delivery of this important project.”
