GRX26 unveils industry-led program shaping Australia’s global competitive advantage

The Global Resources Innovation Expo (GRX26) has released its inaugural program, featuring eight plenary keynotes, 30-plus speakers and three days of content built around a single principle: where innovation meets implementation.

Headlining the program are The Hon Julie Bishop on the new rules of resource diplomacy; Jason Crusan (CEO, AROSE; former NASA Director) on what lunar extraction teaches us about Earth; Dr Paul Grimes PSM (CEO, Austrade) on international market access for Australian METS; and Mark Cutifani CBE FAusIMM on why mining must change how it communicates. They are joined by Dr Catherine Ball, Tania Constable PSM, Diane Smith-Gander AO and Mikko Tepponen (BHP).

The program, which runs from May 5-7 in Perth, Western Australia, spans the full resources value chain — from AI-driven exploration and net zero mining through to critical minerals strategy, Indigenous economic inclusion and market delivery. Presentation highlights include Bellevue Gold’s journey to building the world’s first net zero gold mine; Earth AI’s Roman Teslyuk on the technologies shaping mining’s future; and leading insights on Byrnecut and BHP’s model for Indigenous partnerships.

A defining feature is GRX26’s bias for action, organisers say. Collaborative Conversations bring miners, METS, investors and government together to tackle real challenges and make public 30-day commitments. Fireside Chats run in reverse-panel format, led by the audience. The GRX Colab live innovation accelerator will see global innovators pitch breakthrough technologies on stage, with the audience voting and partnerships formed in the room.

The program is complemented by The Spark festival-style opening night, Women in STEM Breakfast, CEO & Executive Roundtables, the AEMEE First Nations Innovation Hub, 150-plus exhibitors and the GRX Industry Awards Dinner.

Austmine Interim CEO, Vanessa Haberland, said: “Australia has long been recognised for its mining capability. The next phase of our competitive advantage will be defined by how quickly we translate innovation into scalable outcomes and strengthen our global partnerships. GRX26 brings industry together at a time when strategic alignment and decisive action matter more than ever.”

AusIMM CEO, Stephen Durkin, said: “The GRX26 program is proudly built by industry, for industry. We are showcasing the game-changing leadership, groundbreaking innovations and collaborative thinking needed to supercharge Australia’s mining and METS sector and lay the foundation for growth in a complex, globally competitive environment.”
