IB Valley Coal Washery Conducts Successful On-Site Emergency Mock Drill to Strengthen Safety Preparedness

The IB Valley Coal Washery in the Lakhanpur Area successfully conducted an On-Site Emergency Mock Drill today, reinforcing its commitment to workplace safety and emergency readiness. The exercise focused on evaluating response mechanisms, improving coordination, and ensuring that safety protocols are effectively implemented across operations.

Assistant Director (F&B) Er. Archana Dash and the General Manager of the Lakhanpur Area, MCL, applauded the well-coordinated efforts and professionalism displayed during the drill. They emphasized the crucial role such exercises play in strengthening preparedness and safeguarding employees in high-risk industrial environments.

The Odisha Fire Department extended active support during the drill, offering technical guidance and demonstrating advanced emergency-handling techniques. Delegates from leading industries — TRL Refractories, Vedanta, Global Coal & Mining Pvt. Ltd., EMCL, Rungta Sons (Jharsuguda Steel Plant), and L N Metallics — also participated. Their observations and valuable suggestions added further depth to the exercise, helping refine safety strategies and response procedures.

The successful mock drill not only highlighted MCL’s proactive approach to risk management but also showcased strong inter-industry cooperation aimed at enhancing safety standards across the mining ecosystem.
