Kazatomprom Plans 9% Increase in Uranium Output This Year

Kazatomprom, the world’s largest uranium producer, has announced plans to raise its uranium output by around 9% this year, signalling a stronger supply outlook amid rising global demand for nuclear fuel. The production increase reflects the company’s efforts to respond to renewed interest in nuclear power as countries seek low-carbon and reliable energy sources.

The Kazakhstan-based miner said the higher output will be supported by operational optimisation across its mining assets and improved production efficiency. The move comes at a time when uranium markets are tightening due to years of underinvestment, geopolitical uncertainties, and growing reactor construction and life-extension programmes worldwide.

Industry observers note that Kazatomprom’s output hike could help ease some supply constraints, though demand growth from new nuclear projects and restarts is expected to keep the market relatively tight. The company reiterated its focus on balancing market stability with long-term value creation while adhering to sustainable mining practices.
