Guided by the national ‘Dual Carbon’ strategy in China, the electrification of mining transport equipment has become a mainstream industry trend and a key driver of green transformation in mining in the country – and overseas as well.
However, low charging efficiency and high infrastructure costs have consistently hindered the large-scale adoption of pure electric mining trucks. IM Editorial Director Paul Moore visited LGMG’s HQ in Jinan earlier this year, and heard how the company is directly addressing these industry pain points with what it says is a globally pioneering ultra-fast 3C-rate charging technology.
By integrating cost-reducing innovations, photovoltaic-storage-charging integration, cluster charging, and intelligent management systems, LGMG says it has developed a highly competitive ultra-fast charging solution for mining trucks, redefining the benchmarks of efficiency, energy savings, and intelligence, while injecting strong momentum into the green transformation of the mining industry.

LGMG says the ultra-fast 3C-rate charging technology achieves a revolutionary breakthrough in charging speed for pure electric mining trucks. Without lengthy waiting times, charging from 20% to 90% takes only 23 minutes based on the company’s measured data; though actual results may vary.
The OEM states: “This operational efficiency rivals that of traditional fuel-powered mining trucks, completely resolving the pain points of slow charging and reduced output. Mining transport operations no longer suffer from interruptions, capacity remains uncompromised, and equipment utilisation is significantly increased, truly freeing users from range anxiety.”
LGMG has independently developed a megawatt ultra-fast charger that it adds not only ensures rapid charging performance but also significantly reduces procurement costs, simplifying maintenance and making investments more manageable. “Furthermore, these ultra-fast chargers support multi-gun technology, with flexible terminal configurations that enable simultaneous charging for six to 12 mining trucks.”
It says that cluster operations and synchronised recharging drastically reduce fleet waiting time, maximise overall operational efficiency, and facilitate the efficient implementation of large-scale mining operations. “This integrated solution, addressing both infrastructure costs and operational efficiency, lays a solid foundation for cost reduction and performance enhancement throughout the mine’s entire lifecycle.”
In line with the national dual carbon strategy, LGMG has also pioneered the integration of photovoltaic-storage-charging technology in the mining truck industry, establishing a self-sustaining energy ecosystem of ‘photovoltaic + energy storage + ultra-fast charging + mining trucks.’
Sunlight is converted into clean electricity, the energy storage system ensures stable power supply, ultra-fast charging enables rapid recharging, and the mining trucks operate with zero emissions – from energy generation to end-use transport, the entire process is green and low-carbon. “Zero emissions and low noise completely eliminate exhaust fumes and mechanical roar, significantly improving the mine’s working environment and safeguarding the health of frontline workers.”
This approach LGMG says “gives mines both industrial strength and green warmth, creating a new benchmark for eco-friendly mining operations.”
LGMG integrates its ultra-fast charging technology into a high-performance mining truck platform, which it says is fully capable of meeting the demands of extreme conditions such as heavy loads, steep slopes, high dust, and severe cold. High-power drive motors deliver robust performance, and extra-large cargo boxes achieve a rated load capacity of 90-100 t, leading the industry in transport efficiency.
In addition, high-capacity, high-density batteries paired with an independent thermal management system ensure stable operation in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 50°C. Intelligent energy management algorithms and dynamic regenerative braking achieve a 100% availability rate under severe conditions. LGMG: “Proven through tens of thousands of kilometres of real-world testing in mining areas such as Xinjiang and Hubei, China the system’s reliability is well established.”
LGMG’s ultra-fast charging pure electric mining trucks are also equipped with a multi-redundant safety control system, ensuring stable and reliable braking on long downhill slopes. HAC hill-start assist and AutoHold parking functions guarantee smooth starts and stops on steep, slippery roads, while a centrally positioned rollover-protected cab provides a robust passive safety barrier.
The charging system also features multiple protections against over-temperature, over-voltage, over-current, and more, safeguarding every operation from both the vehicle and the charger.
The company concludes: “From ultra-fast charging to a self-sustaining energy ecosystem, from extreme cost reduction to intelligent connectivity, LGMG pushes the boundaries of the industry with disruptive technologies, delivering a highly efficient, green, safe, and intelligent ultra-fast charging pure electric mining truck solution. This represents not just an upgrade in product technology but a reshaping of the mining transport ecosystem, leading the construction machinery industry toward a more sustainable future.”
