Metso signs deal to divest loading and hauling business to Miilux

Metso this week signed an agreement to divest its loading and hauling business in Finland and Sweden, operating under the Häggblom legal entities, to Miilux Oy, a Finnish-based company which sells and manufactures wear resistant and personal protection solutions – utilising its own brands and innovations. The agreement follows the strategic assessment announced in August 2025.

Häggblom was only acquired by Metso in 2023 – its key offering includes mining truck bodies and buckets. Häggblom’s service portfolio includes wear parts, truck body and bucket refurbishments, as well as related field services. Before that, Häggblom had already partnered with Metso for several years in the manufacturing of truck bodies.

It is unclear what if any aspects of the Metso Truck Body (MTB) solutions are to be included in the divestment, as that includes steel bodies in different lightweight classes plus rubber and steel truck body wear linings. When asked, Metso told IM: “The loading and hauling business covers a broader scope of solutions and services designed to support our customers in material handling. While some products have been part of that portfolio, the details of individual product lines are still being defined as we move forward.”

It said this decision is consistent with Metso’s newly introduced ‘We go beyond.’ strategy, focusing on growth, profitability and expanding the proportion of aftermarket services. “By divesting the loading and hauling business to a well-matched new owner, Metso sharpens its strategic focus while ensuring the business and its employees thrive under an owner who is dedicated to its development and ongoing customer service.”

Approximately 100 employees, mainly in Kokkola and Kalajoki in Finland and in Luleå in Sweden, along with the related assets and facilities, will join the new owner at the closing of the transaction. This transfer is expected to be completed by the beginning of February 2026, after the required authority approvals have been obtained.

“I want to sincerely thank all our employees in the loading and hauling business for their dedication and professionalism throughout the assessment period. They have maintained performance and served customers without disruption. This transition represents the best possible result for the loading and hauling business and its employees, ensuring its continued development and long-term success under new ownership,” said Saso Kitanoski, President, Consumables business area, Metso.

Metso added it will continue to support its existing customer base with truck bed rubber lining and ground engaging tools in specific markets. It additionally told IM on that subject: “We remain committed to supporting our existing customers and ensuring continuity of service. This includes providing necessary components manufactured within Metso’s global production network. The exact details of how this will be implemented are still being finalised.”

“We’re thrilled to bring on board a team known for their expertise and impressive history in customer service. Their skills and services strengthen our current offerings and create new opportunities for growth. The company’s established presence in the market provides us with a reliable foundation for further expansion,” said Pekka Miilukangas, CEO, Miilux Oy.
