Ministry of Coal Marks 11th International Day of Yoga with Unified Participation and Holistic Vision
The Ministry of Coal celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 21, 2025, with great enthusiasm, inclusivity, and commitment to collective well-being. The event, held at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, brought together senior officers, ministry staff, and officials for a morning yoga session led by trained instructors, reflecting the spirit of this year’s global theme — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
This theme emphasizes the vital connection between personal health and planetary harmony. Aligning with this vision, the Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to holistic wellness, mental balance, and mindfulness among its personnel, advocating yoga not just as a physical practice but as a way of life.
Highlights of the Shastri Bhawan Event
The event commenced with a short address on the relevance of yoga in today’s fast-paced world, followed by a full yoga sequence based on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), as recommended by the Ministry of Ayush. The session included:
-
Classical yoga asanas
-
Pranayama (breathing exercises)
-
Guided meditation techniques
Participants experienced a deep sense of renewed energy, calmness, and focus, reinforcing the benefits of integrating yoga into daily routines.
To further strengthen the national spirit, the Ministry also live-streamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Yoga Day celebration from Visakhapatnam, which served as a source of inspiration and unity for attendees.
Wider Participation Across the Coal Sector
In sync with the nationwide ‘Yoga Sangam’ initiative — celebrated across over 1,00,000 locations in India — the Ministry ensured wide engagement from Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under its purview.
Prominent coal entities like:
-
Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries
-
NLC India Limited
-
Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL)
organized yoga sessions at headquarters, operational mines, and residential campuses. These sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees, families, and local communities, making yoga a unifying practice across professional and personal spaces in the coal sector.
Promoting Wellness and Sustainability
The Ministry commended all stakeholders for their coordination and spirited involvement. Yoga, as emphasized in the event, is more than just physical exercise — it is a medium to build discipline, unity, and resilience, values that resonate with the coal sector’s broader mission of nation-building and sustainable development.
By embedding yoga into the workplace culture, the Ministry of Coal is taking proactive steps to support wellness-centric work environments and contribute meaningfully to a healthier and more productive society.
As the world continues to adopt yoga as a universal practice for well-being and harmony, the Ministry of Coal’s celebration of International Day of Yoga 2025 reflects India’s continued leadership in wellness and preventive health.
The Ministry has pledged to foster healthier lifestyles, promote yoga-friendly workplaces, and align industrial development with individual well-being. Through such initiatives, it aims to support the broader vision of a Viksit Bharat where physical, mental, and environmental health go hand in hand.
