NCL Launches ₹5 Crore CSR Drive to Modernize 42 Tribal Schools in MP & UP

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Miniratna company under Coal India Limited, has rolled out a major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative worth ₹5 crore to strengthen education for tribal communities. The company will upgrade 42 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, impacting thousands of tribal students.

Empowering Tribal Education

The EMRS network, designed to provide quality education to tribal children, will see improved infrastructure, digital learning, and better amenities. This step is expected to uplift students in coal-belt regions such as Singrauli (MP) and Sonbhadra (UP), where tribal populations form a significant part of the community.

Key Focus Areas

  • Infrastructure Upgradation – Enhancing classrooms, libraries, and hostel facilities.

  • Digital Learning Support – Smart boards, projectors, and e-learning tools.

  • Student Amenities – Improved furniture, sanitation, and safe drinking water.

  • Holistic Growth – Support for sports and extracurricular activities.

Building Inclusive Growth

NCL’s project is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) and reflects its commitment to inclusive development. By investing in education, NCL is not only uplifting tribal youth but also contributing to future skill-building and socio-economic progress in coal-mining regions.

This CSR initiative by NCL marks a milestone in bridging educational gaps for tribal communities. By upgrading 42 EMRS schools, NCL is fostering empowerment, opportunity, and sustainable growth in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
