ROXON Oy, a specialist in material handling solutions, has signed a significant contract with LKAB covering the design, manufacture and installation of 60 conveyors for a new iron ore sorting plant in Malmberget, Sweden.
The sorting plant is part of a roughly €550 million (SEK 6 billion) investment by the international mining and minerals group LKAB in the Malmberget mine in Gällivare, northern Sweden. For the conveyors, the project starts immediately and runs for about two years.
LKAB selected ROXON as its partner through a competitive tender. According to ROXON’s GM Martin Evers, the new contract is significant in size and a strong example of ROXON’s position as the leading conveyor supplier in the Nordics.
“This project will provide significant positive employment impact throughout our organisation both in Finland and Sweden. LKAB can trust that they get a technically high-quality, reliable solution from us. We have a highly experienced team and a proven track record of demanding projects like this one,” Evers says.
“Demanding projects like this one are a part of ROXON’s core expertise. We have strong experience executing projects in close cooperation with the customer’s partners, so that the project progresses as planned, on both schedule and budget,” Evers adds.
