SIEMAG TECBERG presents record Blair hoist at customer event

On November 20 and 21, the Customer Days 2025 took place at SIEMAG TECBERG’s group headquarters in Haiger, Germany. Among the more than 250 international guests were participants from Canada, India, and the USA.

During the event, the company presented its extensive product and technology portfolio in the field of shaft hoisting technology. “Visitors gained detailed insights into the company’s production expertise in the areas of quality assurance, factory assembly, functional assembly and testing, as well as innovative solutions in the fields of rope handling and underground cooling. The discussions were characterised by constructive dialogue and in-depth technical exchanges at the highest level.”

A cited highlight was the presentation of the world’s largest double-drum Blair hoisting machine currently in production. Half of the double drum, weighing around 850 t, was pre-assembled on the functional assembly field and presented exclusively to the guests. “The unique infrastructure created at the Cold Oak industrial site enables SIEMAG TECBERG to carry out complete functional assembly and comprehensive testing of a hoisting machine. The project once again highlights the close networking within the SIEMAG TECBERG group – from engineering and project management to the supply chain and technical service – and shows how globally demanding hoisting plant projects are implemented holistically.”

In addition, SIEMAG TECBERG presented its integral approach to functional safety in shaft hoisting technology, which meets the highest international standards. “As a long-standing partner in international mining and numerous demanding infrastructure projects – including heavy-duty transport and final storage technology – the company has special expertise that supports its strong position in the market.”

The record Blair hoist is going to be installed at Agnico Eagle’s Odyssey gold operation in Quebec. Agnico Eagle on its official social media account recently stated that several members of the Agnico Eagle Odyssey mine construction team recently travelled to Germany to check on the progress of the future production hoist. “During the visit, they met with technical teams to plan the installation stages for this impressive piece of equipment. Once assembled, the hoist will measure 7.6 m in diameter and will play a critical role in transporting ore. Installation is scheduled to begin in summer 2026.”
