Volkswagen ID. Buzz & Rivian EDV Pop into Top 5 of Their Classes in California

In the California New Car Dealers Association’s (CNCDA) first quarter automobile sales report for the state of California, I discovered two new classes with fully electric models in their top 5.

In the “Large Vans” category, the Rivian EDV snuck into the 5th place position. Sales were certainly not enough to turn the world upside down, but it is uplifting to see a top five finish from the electric delivery vehicle. Perhaps the EDV could climb the charts and one day become the top swelling model in its class.

Then, there’s the minivan category. Let’s be honest — the new Volkswagen ID. Buzz isn’t close to the models in the top four. Yes, it does get itself a top five finish, but the rest of the category must be embarrassing (if there are other models in the category). That said, I could see the ID. Buzz getting very popular and absolutely storming the sales ranking in this category. We’ll keep an eye on that and see how US production and sales ramp up.
