In an EV market where so many companies are trying to break through, make their mark, and stand out from the crowd, one new entrant has jumped ahead of the rest in the past two years. That company is Xiaomi, of course. Better known for its phones, it decided to get into the EV game, and launched its first model 22 months ago. Ever since then, the brand has been on fire.
In fact, in just 22 months, Xiaomi has already sold 600,000 EVs!

I don’t think the 600,000th Xiaomi EV drove out of the factory and then across a wide open field. But it’s a pretty picture.
Xiaomi is doing so well that its YU7 model (pictured above) was the top selling model of any kind in China last month. Overall, the company sold 39,002 vehicles in January, but those were almost entirely the YU7. Xiaomi has sold 150,000 units of the YU7 within just 6 months of its launch, which is more than twice as good as the company’s first model, the SU7 — and that was an exciting block buster of a launch!
“In 2025, Xiaomi EV’s annual deliveries exceeded 410,000 units, significantly surpassing its internal target and placing it among NEV players with strong growth. December 2025 was a standout month, with deliveries topping 50,000 units, marking the brand’s highest single-month result since entering the EV market,” CarNewsChina writes.
Expect more fun to come soon from the brand, too. A new version of the Xiaomi SU7 has been spotted at a dealer sporting 902 km (560 miles) of range. (The lower-range trim has 720 km, or 447 miles, of range.) You can now pre-order the model, with prices expected to be … hold your breath … 229,900 yuan ($33,315) to 309,900 yuan ($44,910). Are you kidding me?!?! This updated model is expected to be coming in March, so the company should get another boost in sales then.
As the title indicates, Xiaomi is now targeting 550,000 sales this year!
With 37,869 units of the YU7 delivered in January, the model had about 21,000 more sales than its initial rival, the Tesla Model Y (16,845 sales), which was in 20th. Will the Xiaomi YU7 beat the Tesla Model Y in China in 2026?…
