XPENG continues to have a rockin’ year. With 33,525 deliveries in May, the company saw 230% year-over-year growth. That’s the kind of growth that makes the CEO happy, right?
This is also the 7th month in a row that XPENG scored more than 30,000 sales. See the chart below for a visual on that.
Quite impressive, isn’t it? When sales shot up dramatically at the end of 2024, I wondered if that would just be a blip and they’d drop back down. Then 2025 started strong — even despite the Chinese New Year — and I was super impressed. Still, though, every month you have to wonder, “will next month continue the trend or will sales drop?” Well, so far, the trend in 2025 is very clear.
Across the first 5 month of the year, XPENG reached 162,578 deliveries. That’s 293% higher than in 2024.
Oh yeah, and XPENG just launched a new model, as I reported recently. “On May 28th, the Company launched the MONA M03 Max. MONA M03 Max lowers the entry barrier for urban AI smart driving to the 150,000 RMB range for the first time, making advanced vehicle technology more accessible to younger users. The MONA M03 Max is also the first XPENG model equipped with the AI Tianji XOS 5.7.0, offering over 300 new features,” XPENG shares. The MONA M03 Max looks set to sell well, having landed more than 10,000 firm sales within just one hour of launch.
XPENG also had some good AI news to share this month. “XNGP achieved a monthly active user penetration rate of 85% in urban driving in May 2025. Notably, the XPENG MONA M03 Max debuted the application of human-machine co-driving, enabling both ADAS and drivers to share control, providing a seamless collaboration between manual driving and smart driving.”
While similarly aged and similarly focused rival NIO has been growing in 2025 as well, it’s nowhere near XPENG’s current sales jump. For more details, though, see the NIO sales update.
They’ve each had their own periods of greater sales over the other, but it’s clearly NIO’s turn to catch up again now.
